Our family decided to take a break and travel the world for a year. Long story short, we ended up travelling 22 months and 2 months of our adventures were spent in Colombia. This beautiful country was one of our favorite countries. Colombia stood out with its amazing nature, rich culture and friendly people. The capital of Bogota kept us under its spell for 2 weeks and the city was a great introduction to Colombia and its complicated history. 

Here we met Felipe and Pilar's family. We spent a lovely day with them and their four children. Guadelupe was still a little todler then but the family was inspired by our story and wanted to take a trip on their own and spend quality time together while exploring new cultures. 

Once we got back to the US we had a long year of adjusting back to real life. We got busy with work, school, social life and our almost two year life on the road felt like a dream that never happened in reality. We were pleasantly surprised though one day when we found out that Felipe and Pilar did follow their hearts and took their family on a 6 months trip visiting places that felt special to their family. It felt wonderful to see some of the places we visited through their eyes and refresh our memories but most of all to read through the children's entries as to how they process the experience of being away from home in unknown culture. 

Felipe and Pilar, we hope to see your beautiful family in person again one day and share stories! We hope that your travels were everything you hoped for and more. So glad we have met you and we wish you many more adventures!
