My thoughts about our stroller being robbed
As expected, a Marian Shrine is a peaceful place, a sacred place, a place where nothing bad should happen. But as the tittle recounts, we were wrong. It was a hot day, and we were going to Fátima, which is a Marian Shrine accepted by the Vatican.
We visited some chapels and then decided to go down to an exhibition they were having. There were like 3 sets of stairs we had to go down and I started bringing down our stroller -which is not a cheap one- and had various items for my baby sister in its pockets as well as the books we were reading and a couple of other non important objects. As I was going down, I noticed it was getting hard, so my dad and I decided to leave it up the stairs, a bit hidden and with the brakes on. We didn't even think about it getting stolen, but believe it or not, as we finished exploring the exhibition and visited the church, our stroller was gone. We could not even believe it. I noticed a regret gesture on my dad’s face about leaving the stroller behind.
We gave it as a fact that the stroller was gone after looking for it for more than halve an hour and talking with the guards and information office agents. Afterwards, my dad and I looked in the trashcans near where we had left it to check if they had left anything behind. But they had not. They had taken all of our belongings. I started feeling something I had never experienced in my life. Some feeling that came unexpectedly, a mix of anger, disappointment, we where all jaded and tired about our things being robbed. We had experienced someone stealing a backpack of ours on the beach in Barcelona, but I realised we hadn't been neither cautious or wise, we had put our stroller to danger and our mistake had been paid off the hard way.
As a final conclusion, I would like to state the fact that you cant trust anyone and that you have to be more careful when leaving things behind as we did on Portugal, we can not confide a place we don't know and have to be way more careful he next time.
About the stroller and the other items that were stolen, we bought the same stroller again because we needed somewhere to carry Guadalupe, our books: my dad bought my book on his Ipad so that I could continue reading it and my sister bought it again and read the pages she had left, we didn't let this drama take our happiness away, so we just prayed for the thief and carried on.
